Kia is once again at the forefront of the electric vehicle (EV) market with the introduction of the all-new electric Kia EV3, a compact SUV that brings the high-tech features of its flagship EV9 to a more accessible segment. This new model promises to set new standards in the compact EV market with its impressive range, advanced technology, and commitment to sustainability.
The interior of the EV3 is designed to offer both comfort and practicality. The cabin can comfortably seat five people and features a centre console with a sliding table and storage area, making it ideal for both everyday commutes and longer journeys. The use of recycled materials, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), in the seats, headliner, and door trims underscores Kia’s commitment to sustainability.
The near-30-inch widescreen display, which includes a 12.3-inch cluster, a 5-inch air-conditioning panel, and a 12.3-inch AVN display, ensures intuitive control over the vehicle’s various functions.
Kia has equipped the EV3 with a comprehensive suite of connectivity and entertainment features. The EV3 introduces Kia’s AI Assistant, an advanced voice control system powered by generative AI that understands complex commands and provides assistance with travel planning and entertainment.
Safety and convenience are paramount in the EV3, which features a range of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist. The Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC) ensures smooth and stable power delivery.
Also noteworthy, the EV3 is the first compact EV SUV to feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing occupants to power external devices such as laptops and small appliances. This feature, along with the Digital Key 2.0, which enables users to unlock and start the EV3 using their smartphone or smartwatch, enhances the vehicle's practicality and convenience.
The Kia EV3 is built on the advanced Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which underpins its impressive performance and efficiency. The vehicle is available in two variants: the Standard model with a 58.3kWh battery and the Long Range model featuring an 81.4kWh battery. The Long Range model offers a remarkable driving range of up to 600km (WLTP), making it well-suited for long-distance travel. Both models are powered by a 150kW electric motor that delivers 283Nm of torque, enabling the EV3 to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 170km/h. Additionally, the EV3 supports ultra-fast charging, allowing the battery to be recharged from 10% to 80% in approximately 31 minutes, significantly reducing downtime during long trips.
Kia has meticulously engineered the EV3 to achieve optimal aerodynamics, resulting in a highly efficient vehicle. The design includes a full 3D undercover, which contributes to a low drag coefficient of 0.263 Cd.
